The STAR® S-770 Pressure-Fed Spray Gun with a 3.0 mm fluid tip is our recommended spray gun for applying Goldseal Automotive to vehicle underbodies and other accessible surfaces.
Its large 3.0 mm opening is well suited to the heavier consistency of Goldseal, while the pressure-fed configuration provides a steady supply of material from a separate pressure pot. This makes it easier to achieve consistent coverage across large areas without repeatedly stopping to refill a gun-mounted cup.
The S-770 produces a spray fan up to 260 mm wide, making it suitable for efficiently coating vehicle underbodies, chassis components, trailers, machinery and other exposed steel surfaces. The blue-ring air cap features seven atomising holes to help provide controlled product distribution and an even spray pattern.
Goldseal Automotive is a flexible, oil-based corrosion treatment that requires equipment capable of moving a thicker coating consistently.
The STAR S-770 provides:
A large 3.0 mm fluid tip suitable for higher-viscosity coatings
Pressure-fed material delivery for consistent product flow
A spray fan up to 260 mm wide for covering larger areas
Adjustable spray control for different surfaces and working areas
A separate pressure-pot setup that reduces the weight carried at the gun
Reliable application across underbodies, chassis and exposed components
The flexibility to also operate in a suction-feed configuration when correctly equipped
This setup is particularly useful for workshops applying Goldseal regularly or treating larger vehicles, trailers and equipment.
The STAR S-770 is recommended for applying Goldseal Automotive to accessible surfaces including:
Vehicle underbodies
Chassis rails and crossmembers
Wheel arch areas
Suspension mounting areas
Ute and truck chassis
Trailer and caravan frames
Machinery and outdoor equipment
4WD and off-road vehicle underbodies
Boat trailers and coastal-use vehicles
Farm vehicles exposed to mud, fertiliser or chemicals
This spray gun is intended for open and accessible surfaces.
For enclosed cavities such as doors, sills, pillars, boxed chassis sections and other areas that cannot be reached directly, use a dedicated cavity applicator with a flexible wand and appropriate spray nozzle.
A cavity wand provides the multidirectional spray pattern needed to coat the internal surfaces of enclosed sections. The STAR S-770 should not be relied on as the only applicator when complete cavity protection is required.
Before application:
Clean and degrease the surface.
Remove mud, loose dirt, flaking material and loose rust scale.
Allow the surface to dry where practical.
Mask any components that must not be coated.
Mix Goldseal thoroughly before transferring it to the pressure pot.
Depending on the equipment setup, product temperature and ambient conditions, Goldseal Automotive may require light thinning to improve flow and atomisation.
Goldseal typically recommends approximately 20% thinning, equivalent to around five parts Goldseal to one part compatible petroleum-based thinner, when additional flow is required for pressure-pot spraying.
Always refer to the current Goldseal Technical Data Sheet before mixing or applying the product. Excessive thinning may reduce film build and overall corrosion protection.
Apply an even coat across the required surface, paying particular attention to seams, joins, edges, mounting points and areas where moisture or contaminants may collect.
For pressure-fed operation, this spray gun should be used with:
A compatible pressure pot
A suitable twin air and fluid hose set
A regulated compressed-air supply
Appropriate air fittings and connectors
Suitable respiratory, eye and skin protection
A dedicated cavity gun or cavity wand should be added when enclosed sections are also being treated.

Do not spray Goldseal onto brake discs, brake drums, brake pads, tyres, drive belts, hot exhaust components or other parts where an oil-based coating could interfere with safe operation.
Use appropriate ventilation and personal protective equipment. Follow the instructions contained in the Goldseal Technical Data Sheet and Safety Data Sheet.
